Our journey
Our story, like many churches, has many twists and turns.
What began back in the 70’s as Basingstoke Community Church meeting in Basingstoke became six churches in the early 80’s dotted around the area.
One of those was West Basingstoke, it met in Overton. The church has met in almost every hall and school in Overton and Oakley throughout the years, changing location when needed but carrying on as a people of God.
We are part of the Forge Sphere, Basingstoke Community Churches along with One Church Oakley and Overton Churches Together. These are key relationships as we work and worship together and are part of networks which are much bigger than we are here in the villages.
People have been part of the church from every town, village and hamlet to the west of Basingstoke, and this continues to be the case.
Our values
While our location and families over the years have changed there are however a number of areas that have not changed.
We have always highly valued worship, whether this be through song, giving, communion, prayer it is and has been important to the church. A strong focus on meeting in smaller groups for prayer, teaching and relationship has and will always be important to the church. The list could go on and on, suffice it to say we are a people who love God, love our neighbour and want to make him known to the communities and world around us.
We value:
A focus on the community
Caring deeply for our neighbours
The places we live
Bringing the kingdom of God to our communities
